Female nurse
Nursing encompasses a wide range of duties, from examining and caring for patients and keeping up to date medical records to performing a variety of diagnostic tests and administering medications. Nurses are on the front lines of medical services and, as such, nursing can be a physically and emotionally draining profession but one with incredible rewards. Beyond the obvious rewards of providing support and care to people who are ill, nursing comes with other benefits as well, a stable job market (nurses will always be needed), schedule flexibility, options for career advancement and the opportunity to explore innumerable specializations.

The job prospects for nurses are expected to continue to be quite good as there is generally considered to be a global nurse shortage.  Retiring baby boomers will add to the number of open nursing positions in the years to come and, as that same demographic ages, the need for more nurses to care for that aging population will also increase.  Employment opportunities should be especially good for those nurses that specialize in a particlaur area and have pursued additional education to compliment their skills.

Some of the essential qualities nurses possess are people skills, patience, physical fitness, communication skills, a trustworthy nature, an interest in health and wellness and a desire to help others. Nurses should be able to stay calm during an emergency and have the ability to handle the stress of dealing with illness and, often death, on a daily basis.

Nurses who have these qualities are able to make the most of a career that has endless options and provides an essential service to the community in which they practice/work.
