1.         Arrive on Time

Whichever area of healthcare you work in, you know that sometimes there are preparations that need to be made that will assist you throughout your day.  It is a good idea to arrive at work 10 to 15 minutes earlier than the actual start time of your shift.

It can be difficult to have a person walk in the door at the exact start time as sometimes it can take as much as 30 minutes to become completely oriented.

2.         Always be Neat and Tidy in Your Appearance

Your clothing selections each day may be eased by having that colorful collection of scrubs in your closet, however it is important to be clean and neat.  We have all seen co-workers arriving with wrinkled scrubs that look as though they spent the entire night sleeping in them.  It says a lot about a person when they show up in something neat, clean and pressed if necessary.  If you don't use the drycleaners, you can still use an iron or steamer.

3.         Be a Good Manager of Your Time

They say that a chronic lack of time leads to unnecessary stress.

Time-management experts often say that it is possible to reduce stress. By being diligent you can actually add and extra hour to your day just by some simple time-management techniques.  It's amazing how something as simple as knowing where your keys are in the morning, putting your wallet/purse in the same place when you get home can save time.  The mornings can be difficult at any house.  But these small time savers can really add up.

4.         Take a Day or Two at the Spa

The best thing you can possibly do for your employers, is to be good to yourself.  Treat yourself!  Take a day every month where you can just relax and regroup.  A facial, massage, manicure/pedicure are just a few examples of pampering.  Take the time and you will be glad you did.
